What do you think of this progressive plan to address issues in America?
Reform healthcare because alot of our budget is sucked into medicare costs.Legalize Pot because it was illegalized through stupid racist rhetoric in 1937,tax it, earmark it for education.Reform education with the hundreds of millions if not billions of new tax revenue
Utilize the hemp stalk (the plant which bears marijuana) that is grown for Biomass production for a new energy agenda – essentially bring the middle east into the mid west. Which means you have to overhaul the auto industry’s production and mandate new vehicles be biomass ready by year 2011 or 2012 (henry ford designed the model t with hemp oil fuel in foresight). Provide tax incentives for people to convert cars and fuel stations to offer both fossil and bio fuel (create competition for fuel- Biomass or Fossil). Make sure the biomass infrastructure is government regulated for 15-20 years, so its profitability could fund the infrastructure implementation of mass transit across the country (much like Europe’s system).

Well it is easy to say “reform healthcare” but how exactly would you do it and how would you pay for it?
Legalize pot and tax it. Ok by me. As long as whatever behavior you engage in to numb yourself doesn’t hurt me or infringe on my rights fine. But I would want to see stiff penalties for driving while stoned. Also, would the companies that grow it be open to being sued by cancer patients like big tobacco companies have been?
“Reform education”….again..what exactly do you mean? We have been throwing billions at education for years and we still lag behind other countries in test scores. But if taking the tax money from drug use could help educate kids so they realize drugs are a waste of time and unhealthy then hey…that would be cool….
Biomass fuel….we would have to convert alot( and I mean ALOT) of land over to agriculture production to meet the biomass demand. Here is a quote:
“Replacing only five percent of the nation’s diesel consumption with biodiesel would require diverting approximately 60 percent of today’s soy crops to biodiesel production,” says Matthew Brown, an energy consultant and former energy program director at the National Conference of State Legislatures. “That’s bad news for tofu lovers”.
Also the energy used to grow, harvest, process, and transport ends up making this not as enviromental friendly as it first looks. But we do need to end our dependence on fossil fuels….maybe technological advances will help make biomass much more eco-friendly.
