Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Sandy Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Sandy asks…

Can my unleaded engine run biodiesel fuel?

I’m really interested in biodiesel fuel. I have an old ford explorer that runs on unleaded gas. Is there a kit I can buy to convert my engine to biodeisel fuel? The only kits I’ve seen convert diesel engines but not unleaded.

admin answers:

No. You will need a diesel engine and a fuel system that can withstand the solvent properties of biodiesel.

Joseph Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Joseph asks…

where can you get the kit to switch?

where do you get the kit to switch your car to biodiesel?

admin answers:

Your car has to be a diesel in order to run bio-desel, other wise you are looking at a very expensive repair bill. There are no kits for gasoline engines, however if you r car is a diesel then just go online and look up biodiesel kits

Maria Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Maria asks…

I want to go biodiesel is it worth it and how do you make biodiesel?

If I buy a Volkswagen 1.9 diesel and buy the conversion kit I want to know how I can make the stuff and there plenty of fast food places here willing to give up grease.
Will the power change any or stay the same.

admin answers:

Well the cheapest processor cost about $1500, and it can cost $0.50-$1.50 a gallon depending on where you get your chemicals and alcohol, and assuming you got your oil for free. You could build your own for less but It is better to have a professionally made one or at least work with one before making your own. The waste product can be used to make soap and you can recover some of the alcohol to use again. There is a tax but not for offroad use.

The power could change depending on how good your are at controlling the process. Older VW’s and Mercedes don’t seem to change at all when using biodiesel and wvo. For waste vegetable oil you need a conversion kit not for biodiesel.

The process works like this:

-Filter and heat the oil.
-Test then titration.
-Circulation.
-Remove waste products.
-Wash with water.
-Put in tank.
-Smile.

For details I highly recommend this website. When there click on biofuels library. They have multiple techniques for the process from the point of view of many people. Www.journeytoforever.org They also have info on ethanol, methane, etc.

Good luck, Brandon

Mandy Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Mandy asks…

how do I convert my Nissan Murano into a biodiesel supported SUV?

I’m sick and tired of the rising gas prices! Are there converter kits? All I’ve seen on the web is converting from a diesel car such as a Mercedes Benz to a biodiesel. Plus, it sounds like you still need to keep the diesel gas tank to warm up the car.

admin answers:

Unless you got your hands on a Diesel Murano, it can’t burn bio diesel. You would need to do a full conversion of changing out the gasoline engine to a diesel engine before you can burn bio-diesel.

Gasoline engines and Diesel engines run off different principles. They are not interchangeable.

Michael Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Michael asks…

How can I make a BioDiesel processing system?

What things to i need to make a kit? like what kind of pumps, drums to hold the bio in
but i do not want to buy a kit
so if u could help that would be great
thanks

admin answers:

Don’t do bio diesel. I know this guy who make 50/50 of diesel / cooking oil. He went from 9-10mpg to 12 – 15 city and like 12 -15 high way to 20 mi pulse in a ford 350.

Laura Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Laura asks…

where and how 2 get biodiesel fuel?

my dad has a huge truck thats diesel. he got the car to run it on biodiesel but hasnt accomplished that at all. he knows he has 2 get sum filter and a kit but its like 1000 bucks. does any1 know of a place to get those things or how? any info u have on biofuel, i need it! how much does it cost, can u just pick up french fry oil from restraunts?

admin answers:

You have two choices when it comes to running some sort of Vegetable Oil alternative in a Diesel engine: BioD and WVO. Both of these fuels are made from Vegetable Oil, and both require lowering the viscosity of the fluid similar to Diesel’s consistency. BioD lowers the viscosity of Veggie Oil through chemical means, while WVO is heated in the car tank and fuel lines (heated liquids are less viscous).

If you want to run your car or truck cheaper than BioD, you should use WVO. Even though BioD is better for the environment than Diesel, it still requires harsh and expensive chemicals to produce. Plus you have some toxic goop to get rid of inside your filters and storage containers.

WVO is just vegetable oil from restaurants. To use it in your car, you need to filter out the oil, down to 1 micron. Also, you need to dewater it. Both of these tasks can be accomplished very cheaply in a garage. Also, you need to convert your car to have a second tank. If you run BioD, you don’t need the second tank (it can run from the Diesel tank), but you need to replace all the rubber components and hoses with BioD-safe parts. I figure, if you’re going to rip the car apart anyway, why not use the safer, cheaper, and less intense alternative fuel (WVO).

You can get your oil from restaurants for free if you set up a contract with them. Be on time. Other greasers will take your place if you are lazy.

You are right, it’ll cost you at least 1000 dollars to convert the car to run on WVO. However, if you can turn a wrench, you can make your own kit for about 800. Do a lot of research online. My favorite forum is http://www.frybrid.com and they have the highest quality kit on the market (also the most expensive). If you go cheap on your WVO kit, it will destroy your engine in the long run. My advice, spend early on a quality product, and you will easily make up the difference in a few months in fuel expenses, depending upon how much you travel.

You can follow my trips and my installation on my VW Jetta here: http://www.nickpisca.com/wvo

Robert Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Robert asks…

What effects would raw, used vegetable oil have on a diesel motor? (99 F-250)?

I plan to filter out any solids, don’t want to spend alot of time and money on a biodiesel kit.

admin answers:

Filter it and pour it in and drive is what I’m told, just be sure to get all the used french fries out.

Lizzie Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Lizzie asks…

I want to know more information about modifying my car for Biodiesel.?

I heard it was possible to use used cooking oil from McDonalds or other fast food places in a modified diesel car. What I was told was that after straining the oil for food particles and such the used cooking oil can be dumped right into the gas tank of a properly modified car. Can anyone elaborate on this? Would it work with any diesel car? Also I don’t want any information on mixing diesel, biodiesel stations, biodiesel kits, etc etc etc. I want to know if there is a way to put strained cooking oil directly into my gas tank. Thank you.

admin answers:

Yes, it’s called waste vegetable oil. You need to make a modification to the diesel engine and filter it. See the link below for details.
