Jenny asks…
What rating would biodiesel cars get : SULEV,LEV, or worse ?
( I know that the rating would probably change depending on the type of substance used to make the fuel, as well as the amount of the fuel used – or Miles Per Gallon. )
admin answers:
The same as a normal diesel engine.
It burns slightly cleaner than PD but you get less MPG too.
So you have to burn more to compensate.

Linda asks…
what pollutants do biodiesel cars produce?
Please and thank you.
admin answers:
The only reason why they started producing biodiesel is because people are afraid that the oil will run out and that at least they can say that the amount of emissions caused by burning biodiesel is the same amount that the plants that are burned used to grow in the first place and thereby creating a balance. BUT, there is a huge but here. Think of how much is emitted from the tractors and other machines that are used for growing these plants! So, not as clean as you think. (you should also take into account what is said in earlier answers about the fields changed from food production to fuel production.)

John asks…
is biodiesel good for cars and also is it cheap?
i have a diesel car so i wanted to know if it is good to use biodiesel and can you use any kind of vegetable oil?
admin answers:
It runs cleaner but does cost more unless you make it your self there are kits out there that you can buy to make it at home and some restaurants will give you the old oil for free so it can be inexpensive but if buying it outright it can be more than regular diesel. Http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html is a good resource for it.

Betty asks…
shouldn’t there be a green rating for biodiesel cars?
on the green car list, diesel cars get bad grades, but if drivers are using biodiesel, where would that rank against hybrids?
admin answers:
There is a green rating for biodiesel cars like the Volkswagen GLI on Yahoo autos.

Donna asks…
can someone explain to me alternatives to gasoline such as biodiesel and electrically powered cars?
such as what they do.. advantages and disadvantages?
what will we do with the batteries in the future from electric cars?
admin answers:
I helped write a wiki article on this subject, so instead of repeating what I said there, I’ll just provide you with the link so you can check it out yourself. Electric cars and hybrids are the best option in the near future though.
