How much does Carmax charge for Maxcare extended service plan ?
I’m planning to buy a car from Carmax. How much do they charge for their extended service plan? Is it worth it? Any experience with the plan?

I used to work for carmax.. And the charge varies based on the car and the length of time that the plan is for.
Yes its worth it, because it covers everything and they stand behind it.
I would suggest buying one that will last the life of your loan, so that u know you are covered for as long as you own the car.
Not sure what kind of car you’re looking at but if its something fancy or something that they can’t fix.. They send it right to the dealer/manufacturer anyway. So u still get dealer parts etc in some cases.
I wouldn’t buy a used car from anywhere else if i could help it.
They may not negotiate, but they have quality cars, usually with low miles.

Steven asks…
How much does a carmax salesman earn and what is it like selling cars?
I am currently working with a staffing organization that currently pays me $12 hr (varies on job, usually $12) and puts me in random companies. Some times the position leads to a permanent position, but most of the time does not. (It’s a typical temp agency). After taxes I make about $17,000 ann. I am thinking about working at Carmax because I was offered an interview. The only information I can find on the net is that the average salesman makes around 45K. I was wondering if anyone has worked with Carmax and can give me a basic idea of how much a salesman makes and how the environment is. (I live in NC area)

My husband works for Carmax and starting out as a salesman you make $150 per car that you sell, regardless of the price of the car. If you sell the extended warranty you get $50 and if someone sells you their car to Carmax that’s also $50. The benefits are really good and the atmosphere is great. Casual too. His first year there-with no prior sales experience-he made $42,000. It can be hard working on comission though if you don’t have another spouse income or you have a mortgage to pay so there were a couple of rough months. They do have advancement opportunities. You can also earn more per car, monthly extras where you get more per extended warranty you sell. There are LOTS of Carmaxes opening in the US so you can also transfer within the company. My husband used to work in the business world and was never in a good mood when he’d come home but now he works around cars all day so its better. Good luck with your interview!
