James Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

James asks…

has any one ran a transit van on biodiesel with out adding a heater kit/ separt tank to engine?

admin answers:

You are confusing bio diesel with vegetable oil, bio-diesel has to be refined of its alkalyds, and has burn and temperature carachteristics similar to diesel, only difference is it is corrosive, so you HAVE to replace organic hoses and seals in order to run it, or you will have real problems, as for vegetable oil, you cannot start a cold diesel engine on it, so you need to have a dual fuel system, and flush out the vege oil with diesel before you shut it off.

Susan asks…

Elsbett kit for SVO/Biodiesel/Diesel?

I’m looking to purchase an Elsbett kit for my 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL diesel car. Looks like they’re located in Germany and their ordering system is tailored as so. Are there any distributors for their conversion kits here in the USA or must I order through them?

admin answers:

There are 4 U.S. “Service Partners” listed here: http://www.elsbett.com/us/local-partners.html – but you probably still have to purchase the kit directly from Elsbett, since some models need specially-made injection nozzles. All the people who have discussed this say they dealt with Elsbett for the kits, so those U.S. Partners are perhaps specifically educated to do installation (but plenty of people have done them on their own).
P.S. – The Elsbett warrantee requires you use virgin oil, not waste oil, but some folks don’t care about guarantees icon wink Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Richard Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

do you need a titration kit if you are useing new veg oil to make biodiesel?

Why in the world are you using new veg oil?
It costs way more than the $3.00 a gallon for diesel.

Daniel Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

Daniel asks…

Biodiesel production equipment– What is needed?

There are kits available on websites that can produce biodiesel if given the raw components. Unfortunately, they can cost from $2K up to $20K.

There MUST be a webpage, book, or flyer that can teach me EXACTLY what equipment (and where) to buy in order to make a biodiesel kit that can help me produce and wash biodiesel without spending $2K+.

Anyone know where I can find this detailed info?

Thanks!

William Your Questions About Biodiesel Kit

William asks…

How difficult would it be to create a conversion kit for car engines?

using alternative/renewable fuel sources?

I asked this question a few years ago when I first experimented with biodiesel and there are conversion kits for diesel engines but what about regular engines. It seems like it should be do-able since most gasoline contains a certain percentage of ethanol (as one example)

Has anyone considered this?

admin answers:

Not hard at all. You can do it yourself within a hour or two. Honestly, YES it does work. I have done this to my 96 Saturn and currently get about 50 miles per gallon.

I wrote a blog review about it here:

http://www.freewebs.com/isitworthmytime/blog.htm?blogentryid=3686482

It’s very simple. You don’t change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with DISTILLED WATER and a little bit of BAKING SODA. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen). The HHO gas is supplied to the engine’s intake manifold or carburetor as shown below.

Hope this helps.
