Joseph Your Questions About Electric Carts

Joseph asks…

How much do the electric carts for the handicapped cost approximately?

After church on Sunday, several co-workers and I had a few drinks and went to Target to drive the electric carts around the store and parking lot. The key is to slump over and look retarded or play with our nipples when an employee is looking. I think they know we aren’t disabled but don’t say anything in case they are wrong. Anyway we got a little too rowdy and started holding them while we did burnouts on the sidewalk. One of them broke(piece of junk) so I got in it and a friend of mine pushed it over a 2 foot curb and it nose dived and broke completely. Now those assholes are making me pay for it! How much do they usually run?

Michael asks…

Are ordinary people allowed to use the handicap electric carts at Walmart?

Today my friends and I went to Walmart and one of my friends got on one of those handicap electric carts at Walmart. He wasn’t hurt or obese, and the workers didn’t say anything. Are people allowed to use them even if you have no physical problems.

admin answers:

Yes. How would they know you had a bad heart etc.

Of course if your ripping around cheering , they might restrict your use.

Maria Your Questions About Electric Carts

Maria asks…

How many of you park in handicapped spaces or ride electric carts and nothing is wrong with you?

Some of us do inconsiderate stuff consciously while others don’t think about that they are taking away from people who really need. Ex: Parking in Maternity/Handicapped spaces, riding electric shopping carts because they are lazy, using handicapped bathroom stalls/fitting rooms because they are bigger, etc.

admin answers:

I never do, on occasion I have used the bigger bathroom stall, but was out right away.

Chris Your Questions About Electric Carts

Chris asks…

What are the pro’s and con’s to gas and electric golf carts?

I am looking to buy a golf cart, but can’t decide on gas or electric. Which one is better? I’d just be using it to drive around town, probably on a grass field too!

Thanks in advance,
Nadine

admin answers:

Electric carts still use lead-acid batteries…225AH typically. They last 12mo with consistant use (nearly drained everyday, recharged every night) before your runtime suffers and they need replaced. 6V 225AH are $100-$150 and you’ll need anywhere from 4-8 (24V-48V), so if you can justify $400-$1200 as a yearly expense that is cheaper than the fuel cost for a gasoline cart (don’t have those figures, sorry) then that’s the way to go.

Super-sized fat people at Wal-Mart — should they be allowed electric carts and handicapped parking stickers?

I hate Wal-Mart, but had to go in the middle of the day the other day (while most normal people are working) and saw some really super-sized obese people. I mean crazy big. Some had handicapped parking privileges and used electric carts. They obviously weren’t working.

What’s up with that?

admin answers:

Sometimes I just hate going to WalMart, too. Last week, when I was at a WalMart, some of the customers looked like the dredges of society. There was one family, I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say they stepped out of the movie, Deliverance, but just the fact that I thought of that, tells you something. As for the really super-sized fat people having handicapped parking and using electric carts, I try not to think about their medical problems and whether or not their weight is the sole reason for it. I just think, maybe they have other problems and maybe being overweight is the cause of all their medical problems, but it’s not really up to me to say. There is an epidemic of overweight people in this country, even kids. I think maybe you get so used to seeing it that after a while, it barely registers anymore.

William Your Questions About Electric Carts

William asks…

Could you give me more info about the electric carts at Disney World?

I have a daughter that is going to Disney World the end of May.
She has a four year old daughter that she may need to ride on one of the scooters to keep up with every one. My daughter has a very bad back. I just returned and one of the employees were very rude about just letting my four year old sit on one. I had a nice answer from a cast member a short while ago that said it is ok to ride them if the weight wasn’t over the limit, and it was not in any way. The writing on the key says not to ride children but yet, we passed by others that were doing so. To ride them or not to ride them. What is the correct answer. Thanks so much.

admin answers:

I answered your previous question. If it’s your own scooter or a rental from outside Walt Disney World, then it really is entirely up to you. However, would you put a small child on the back of a bike without any safety harness? Would you put a small child on a moped without any sort of safety device? Would you leave a child unstrapped in his stroller?

If worrying about the child keeping up with everyone is the issue, you might want to contact a medical supply store to see if they have some sort of “tow package” where you can attach a stroller to the back of the ECV. (I’ve seen this kind of thing, where couples will attach a wheelchair to the back of a scooter.) That way, the child’s not driving–and doesn’t look like he might. He’s strapped into a chair–and not threatening to fall off. And everyone’s keeping up with one another and everyone’s happy.

George Your Questions About Electric Carts

George asks…

How to make electric golf carts faster?

how could i make an electric golf cart go faster with out buying parts?
with out buying other parts, when i drive down hill something kicks in and slows it down how can i remove this?
how would i make the cart faster with out buying parts, or how can i remove the centrifugal clutch?

admin answers:

You essentially can’t.

Speed of an electric motor is proportional to voltage supplied.

So without buying parts (new motor, new battery or new gears) there is no way you will improve speed.

************

The centrifugal clutch is to limit speed to reduce the risk of rolling the cart when you turn.

DO NOT remove it.

What are the advantages of Petrol Golf Carts compared to electric?

I am looking a buying a 2nd hand golf cart and was just wondering if anyone could tell me the main differences between petrol and electric (price, reliability, etc).

admin answers:

It takes much longer to recharge an electric cart than it does to put petrol in a gas cart. Gas carts also (typically) have more torque. I am not advocating gas or electric, both have their good and bad attributes.
