Your Questions About Biodiesel Magazine

Daniel Your Questions About Biodiesel Magazine

Daniel asks…

Who are the people in New Zealand who once ran a biodiesel Range Rover on fuel made from algae?

I would like to get in contact with them, but only know of their existence through a newspaper article in a German magazine which mentions them on a sideline.

Does anyone know more about this?

Thanks.

refining oil for biodiesel question?

I’ve seen in magazines where people built their own refinery for making biodiesel. Anyone on here every actually done it? How hard is it to build and maintain? I have a diesel truck and access to all the used cooking oil I want from a local bakery… they only fry donuts in it so it’s VERY clean.

I personally am gravitating away from bio-diesel. The process for making it is pretty simple but the chemicals used to make it are dangerous and the by products left over from the process just generate another problem ( i.e useless waste products). I will now focus my efforts on refining WVO (waste vegetable oil) and burning it straight…the way Diesel himself did with virgin oil. It’s mostly a matter of preheating the oil before introducing it into the engine. The Swedes are already doing this with tractors and have prototypes for automobiles. I hope this helps and, thanks for wanting to do the right thing.

Sharon asks…

good idea for a bus advertisement?

doing an ad campaign for school to get people to “go green” and use the bus system to help. The key point is that the buses not only use biodiesel but to encourage people to GET on the bus instead of driving, there will be ipod hookups for each person, free wifi, and there will be a system of geting discount bus fares by turning in recyclables etc. (MIND YOU, this is a FAKE bus system, it does NOT exist yet, but we had to get creative and MAKE UP something). I’m really struggling on the advertisements for the bus, not ones ON a bus. We have to a do 2 ads that will go in a magazine to promote going green and riding the bus. (this is for an advance graphic design 1 class). we also have to do a brochure, any ideas on the magazine ads??

“Take the bus. It doesn’t stink as much as it used to.”
OK, sorry. Couldn’t resist. Anyway…a comparison ad would be good here. Showing a commuter in his car sitting in traffic looking frustrated. Also show an attractive female sitting on a clean wide bus seat, smiling and using her laptop. A male next to her is listening to his iPod and has his head back and his eyes closed, with a smile on his face.
Good luck.
